Getting Subclipse up and running

skyemoor
I have a working Subversion repository, and I followed the instructions to set up Subclipse (originally accidently also pulling in Subversive, then deleted everything and started again), and dove down into the JavaHL wiki page to follow the instructions there for Linux (Ubuntu).

However, I've not been able to get it working. It does show up on Preferences -> Team -> SVN, and I can see both the right versions of SVNKit and JavaHL available.

Yet, I cannot pull up the SVN Repository Menu, it only grays out my main Eclipse page.

I loaded libsvnjavahl-1.so and found it, adding it to the eclipse.ini file, confirmed by pulling up the eclipse runtime configuration, which shows;

eclipse.vmargs=-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/jni
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.6
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m
-Xms40m
-Xmx512m
-jar

I ran the 50 JavaHL tests, and every one said, "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class org.tigris.subversion.javahl.SVNAdmin". I have doublechecked the path to libsvnjavahl-1.so and it is correct.

Any clues to what I am doing wrong?

This shows that JavaHL is installed and working.  I wouldn't bother doing any more troubleshooting in this area.  You should just assume JavaHL is fine.

I do not understand what that screenshot is supposed to be showing.  Did you point at the right one?

You can look in the Eclipse Error Log view to see if anything has been logged.

Here's the Eclipse Error Log right after I click on "SVN Repository Exploring" in the upper right

And here is what I have loaded in Eclipse right now;

Did I load the right software?  I have not done anything with Collabnet yet.

Subclipse seems to be installed fine, but the errors you are showing are from Subversive. So I'd guess the Perspective you are trying to access is the one contributed from Subversive, and since you uninstalled it, you are getting an error.

You probably have 2 SVN perspectives, one for each plugin.

Good points, I reverted back to a previous configuration before installing Subclipse or Subversive, reloaded Subclipse, and now it appears to be accessing the repository.

Thanks, your input have been very helpful.
